Coach K I am

I am coaching a 5th and 6th grade girls b-ball team.  There is one team that is super good and have beat us twice by more than 30 points per game.  They hammered us again in the first half of the game, leading by 19 points.  We went in for half time and they reset the score at 0-0.

The girls all had slumped shoulders and were looking down.  I went over a couple things and they weren't even looking at me.  So I said:

T:  How do you guys feel?
Girls:  We are tired.
T:  Do you feel beat?
Girls (nodding)
T:  (with a little bit of fire) Do you even want to go out there for the second half?
Girls: (Finally looking up)  Yes
T:  Fine, THEN PLAY LIKE IT!!!

We go out and are super aggressive and play them to a 20-20 tie.  It was maybe the most beautiful moment in my life.  I am Bobby Knight.

Why bother?

So this summer I might post on this sight four times, max.  Stop checking, then you won't be frustrated.

Two more days in Monessen.  Then off to great adventures out west.
